SALT LAKE CITY (September 2024) – YESCO, the 104-year-old company known for creating, repairing and maintaining internationally recognizable signs, announces it has completely retrofitted the colossal scoreboard at New Mexico State University’s Aggie Memorial Stadium with a new display made by Watchfire. Taking more than 1,600 man-hours of labor to complete, the scoreboard renovation was finished on Saturday, July 27, just ahead of New Mexico State University’s first football game of the season which occurred on Saturday, Aug. 31 against Southeast Missouri State University.

The brand-new 31-foot-tall by 60-foot-wide brilliant LED display created by Watchfire includes a 10-millimeter pixel pitch. YESCO also fabricated a three-inch-wide steel frame to match the sign’s existing mounting brackets and manufactured aluminum end cladding, three mesh frames and faces at the top front of the display and one mesh frame system for the entire back of the display.

In addition to retrofitting the new signage, YESCO also removed and disposed of the previous A/C units and duct work, flex faces, existing sign cabinets, existing digital displays and existing sound speakers.

FUN FACTS:

  • Since 1978, Aggie Memorial Stadium has been the home of New Mexico State football.
  • With a capacity for 28,853 fans, the new video scoreboard can be viewed by all guests inside the stadium.
  • The Watchfire videoboard can display more than 1.2 quintillion colors.

“Our team dedicated countless hours to ensure every detail of the new scoreboard installation was meticulously executed, enhancing the game-day experience for New Mexico State University fans,” said Jeff Young, executive vice president, YESCO. “We were elated to watch the cutting-edge LED display light up the field for the first home game of the season.”
