SALT LAKE CITY (October 2024) – YESCO, the 104-year-old company known for creating, repairing and maintaining internationally recognizable signs, announces the fabrication and installation of a colossal hockey puck for Smith Entertainment Group’s Utah Hockey Club, prominently displayed on Delta Center’s Main Plaza.
Towering at 14 feet, 3 inches tall, 13 feet wide and nearly 2 feet deep, the larger-than-life puck now stands proudly next to the famed Utah Jazz “J Note” statue, adding a striking new element to the heart of Downtown Salt Lake City.
Constructed primarily from painted aluminum, the puck’s exterior is meticulously detailed to capture the texture and precision of an authentic hockey puck. One of the standout features is the side, which showcases a lightly routed graphic that mirrors the grooved patterns of a real puck and bears the inscription “Utah Hockey Club.”
The puck’s vivid design is brought to life through a state-of-the-art LED lighting system. White LEDs, set behind polycarbonate lenses, illuminate the white and blue areas of the puck, creating an eye-catching display that highlights the Utah Hockey Club’s signature colors, even after the sun sets.
“Installing a piece of this size required meticulous planning and execution,” said Jeff Young, executive vice president, YESCO. “Every measurement and angle had to be exact to ensure the puck’s alignment and stability, reflecting the same precision and attention to detail that define YESCO’s craftsmanship.”
