THE PUNK ROCK MUSEUM ANNOUNCES NEW TEMPORARY EXHIBIT BLACK PUNK NOW, OCTOBER HAPPENINGS

LAS VEGAS (October 2023) – The Punk Rock Museum announces the launch of a new, temporary exhibit titled Black Punk Now as well as its roster of October happenings. Guests can look forward to exclusive late-night guided tours with punk legends, extended hours during the When We Were Young festival, a flea market and more.
Grand Opening of Black Punk Now Exhibit
Date: The grand opening will take place on Friday, Oct. 20
Time: The exhibit will be on view during regular museum hours through March 2024: Monday through Friday from 12 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Location: 2nd floor of the museum.

Description: The museum will launch its newest temporary exhibit curated by James Spooner titled Black Punk Now – After Afro-Punk, Beyond Bad Brains on Friday, Oct. 20. The event takes place during the 20th anniversary of Spooner’s 2003 documentary “Afro-Punk,” which explores the experience of being a Black punk rocker, and the launch of his new anthology titled “Black Punk Now.” The exhibit also spotlights today’s generation of Black punks, underground BIPOC punk festivals and more. As part of the opening celebration, Spooner will be at the museum to speak to guests and sign copies of his book. The Triple Down bar will also feature specialty drinks that evening thanks to Laurel Canyon Spirits by Bryan Ray Turcotte and a Black Punk Now beer collaboration with Beer Zombies.
Who: James Spooner is an award-winning graphic novelist, filmmaker and tattoo artist. He directed the documentary “Afro-Punk” which premiered at national and international film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival and The American Black Film Festival. He also co-founded the AfroPunk Festival, which currently boasts audiences in the hundreds of thousands around the world.

Description: Guests can now enjoy an amplified experience at The Punk Rock Museum with Mixtape Social Music. QR codes are now displayed throughout the museum which provide easy downloading of the Mixtape Social Music iOS app. After downloading the app, visitors can become immersed in the visceral energy of punk history, hearing the stories and music behind the exhibits.
Flea Market Weekend
Dates: Friday, Oct. 20 through Sunday, Oct. 22
Time: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Location: In the museum parking lot.

Description: The museum invites guests to its first-ever flea market weekend. Attendees can enjoy goods from local artists, food trucks, vendors and museum giveaways.

Details: The Punk Rock Museum announces a temporary art exhibit by Mark deSalvo. The collection to be on display will feature paintings of famous punk rock album covers, including releases by NOFX, Mad Caddies and more.
