LAS VEGAS (November 2023) – The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, announces its upcoming December events and promotions, including the exclusive Las Vegas premiere of “Dope Men” and a book signing with author and journalist Mark Seal.

Las Vegas Premiere of “Dope Men”: a New Documentary on Illicit Drugs and The Mob
Date: Thursday, Dec. 14
Time: 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Description: A new documentary explodes the myth that the Mob steered clear of the drug trade. In fact, connections between the Mob and illegal drugs date to the 1920s, when New York racketeer Arnold Rothstein spearheaded heroin trafficking into the United States. “Dope Men: America’s First Drug Cartel” features an all-star cast of respected historians and authorities. After the screening, producer-writers Seth Ferranti and Christian Cipollini will discuss the making of the film and answer questions.​

Speakers:

• Christian Cipollini is an award-winning author, comic book creator, lecturer and organized crime historian. His work has been featured in Real Crime Magazine, All About History, The Mob Museum’s blog and Informer Journal. He has also appeared on The History Channel, REELZ, The Science Channel, AHC, National Geographic and Disney+.
• When writer/director Seth Ferranti received a 25-year LSD kingpin conviction, after faking his suicide and landing on the U.S. Marshals’ Top 15 Most Wanted list, he thought his life was over. As a first-time, non-violent offender, he was nonetheless given a lengthy sentence due to practices associated with the United States’ war on drugs. His case attracted national attention, and despite his sentence, Ferranti was determined to rise above his past and focus on his future. He began building a writing and journalism career from inside prison. After 21 years, he was released and continued his journalism career, contributing to Vice, Ozy, The Daily Beast and more; writing and publishing comic books; directing a web series; and making guest appearances on Fox News, Inside Edition and NewsNation as a subject matter expert.
