WHAT:
On Sunday, Sept. 3, The Wedding Capital of the World™ celebrated its monumental 70th anniversary at Caesars Palace. The extravaganza recognized the first time Las Vegas was hailed as The Wedding Capital of the World in a Sept. 23, 1953, article published in the London Daily Herald.
The spectacle, which featured multiple entertainers and a six-tiered wedding cake inspired by Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s 1967 cake prepared by Buddy Valastro’s World Famous Carlo’s Bake Shop in Las Vegas, culminated with the mass vow renewal ceremony with 300 couples officiated by actor Patrick Warburton. The extravaganza also included an original vintage Vegas musical production titled “Las Vegas Will You Marry Me,” which celebrated seven decades of the destination’s reign as the world’s most desirable location for love and marriage.
Proceeds from the event benefited the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, which provides youth with the help, hope and support needed to rebuild their lives.
