Mob Museum 10-Year Anniversary PR Campaign | Vox Agency

Winner of the 2022 Pinnacle Award for “Best of Show – Campaigns” by the Public Relations Society of America

The Project

The Mob Museum provides a world-class journey through true stories—from the birth of the Mob to today’s headlines. To commemorate its 10-year anniversary milestone, The Mob Museum set out to create a distinctly historical event for its gala. Paying special tribute to a number of undercover law enforcement agents and honoring pioneering undercover agent, Joseph D. Pistone, the event epitomized the Museum’s mission to advance the public understanding of organized crime’s history and impact on American society. Additionally, the museum enlisted City of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman and former City of Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman to co-chair the event to create an only-in-Vegas-style gala to capture the attention of key target audiences.

The Vox Agency wrote and distributed an array of press materials to local, regional and national media leading up to the 10-year anniversary, including calendar alerts and news releases. In the weeks prior to the gala, media drops were delivered to key local and national journalists. Invitations to the “Undercover of the Night” gala were also sent to top-tier media inviting them to experience the event as guests.

The Results

The Vox Agency surpassed its media coverage goals for the Museum’s 10-year anniversary celebration. Coverage was secured in Las Vegas’ two main daily newspapers, four main broadcasting stations, a Southern California-based regional outlet and two national outlets, including BizBash and Travel Weekly.

The Mob Museum also surpassed its fundraising goal for the gala. As a result, the 10-year anniversary event raised more than $190,000 for the non-profit and helped the Museum grow its list of partners and sponsors by 35 percent.
