LAS VEGAS (June 2019) – Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar invites guests to experience the first Taste and Learn of summer to take place Saturday, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. Taste & Learn is Ferraro’s popular, monthly wine-tasting dinner that provides illuminating wine education along with expertly prepared, authentic Italian small plates prepared by Executive Chef Francesco DiCaudo.
The event features wines from Piedmont’s Grimaldi winery. The vineyards are located in Alba, in the province of Cuneo, and have been in use for more than a century. Grandfather Giuseppe Grimaldi originally cultivated the region’s dolcetto grapes between fields of wheat. He would then load them into cart and take them to the Aldolcetto market to be purchased by winemakers. After the war years, his son Carlo began to bottle wine under the family name. By the early 1950s, Carlo had cultivated the noble Nebbiolo grape and begun bottling the first vintages of Barolo and Barbaresco.
On this month’s tasting menu: Grimaldi’s exceptional Barolos, as well as a Barbera—also made using the Nebbiolo grape. The evening’s presentation will also introduce guests to the region’s typical Dolcetto grape as well as the refreshing Arneis white wine.
As always, Ferraro’s award-winning chef will prepare imaginative dishes to accompany each wine. The full menu follows:
Arneis, Marco Porello, Camestri, 2018
Tonno Marinato
Tuna carpaccio, lard, citrus
Dolcetto D’Alba, Bruna Grimaldi, 2016
