LAS VEGAS (October 2023) – On Thursday, Nov. 9, the Atomic Museum invites guests to enjoy an enthralling conversation and cocktails during its next ATOMIX event titled “Atomic Life: Shaken & Stirred.” Vanderbilt professor and author Cecelia Tichi will discuss her book “Midcentury Cocktails: History, Lore, and Recipes from America’s Atomic Age.”
The discussion will dive into the history of midcentury life and delightful cocktails from the era of new interstate highways, sprouting suburbs and atomic engineering. Renowned for its innovation and style, this distinctive era of American history was reflected in the whimsical cocktails that rose to prominence during the 1950s and 1960s, including tiki drinks, Moscow mules, sea breezes, piña coladas, pink squirrels and sloe gin fizzes.
During the event, attendees can imbibe with the following cocktails from Tichi’s book:
Additionally, the discussion will dive into how the atomic age led to cocktail culture, take away lessons from her book and more.
“Atomic culture permeated into many aspects of American life during the midcentury era, from cocktails to movies, cars and more,” said Rob McCoy, CEO, Atomic Museum. “We look forward to this exclusive conversation with Cecelia Tichi as she takes us back in time to this unique era of American history.”
A book signing will follow the event with copies of “Midcentury Cocktails” available for purchase.
The event will take place on Thursday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Atomic Motors Classic Cars & Motorcycles at 704 W Sunset Road, Henderson, NV 89011.
