ATOMIC MUSEUM ANNOUNCES DISTINGUISHED LECTURE: FORGOTTEN CREATORS OF THE GERMAN ATOMIC BOMB WITH DR. TODD H. RIDER, THURSDAY, JAN. 26

 WHAT:
The Atomic Museum invites the public to its next Distinguished Lecture: Forgotten Creators of the German Atomic Bomb with Dr. Todd H. Rider. Contrary to the conventional historical view that the World War II German nuclear program accomplished little, recently rediscovered evidence suggests the program may have progressed all the way to the design, production and successful testing of a fission bomb.

Dr. Rider will discuss how the German bomb appears remarkably similar to the U.S. Gadget and Fat Man bombs as well as the importance of carrying out further research in archives around the world and conducting industrial archaeology and scientific analyses at European sites where nuclear work may have taken place in order to elucidate the true extent and history of the wartime German program.

WHO:
Todd Rider received his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1995. He spent most of his career as senior staff scientist at MIT leading research programs and teaching. Dr. Rider and his projects have been featured in Scientific American, Technology Review, National Geographic, Time Magazine, The New York Times, Der Spiegel, BBC and numerous other outlets. Most recently, he conducted archival research around the world and wrote “Forgotten Creators,” which covers revolutionary innovators and innovations that came out of the German-speaking scientific world.

 WHEN:
Thursday, Jan. 26
6 to 8 p.m.

WHERE:
Online via Zoom

COST:
Registration is complimentary for museum members, $10 for students and $15 for non-members. For more information or to RSVP, click here.
