LAS VEGAS (April 2025)The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, proudly announces the release of its new charitable Nevada specialty license plate, now available for purchase by Nevada motorists. In partnership with the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), this unique plate offers drivers a chance to showcase their pride in Las Vegas and support a museum that gives back to the community through impactful education and outreach.

More than just a plate, it’s a symbol of civic pride and collective investment in the cultural and educational future of Southern Nevada. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, The Mob Museum will use every plate purchased to fund programs that educate, inspire and provide the public with a deeper understanding of our shared history.

The plate features the Museum’s iconic neoclassical building, once a U.S. Post Office and federal courthouse, on a bold black background. The building itself is a powerful emblem of justice and transparency, having hosted the famous Kefauver Committee Hearings which shone a national spotlight on organized crime.

“We are thrilled to introduce this specialty license plate, which not only allows our community to showcase its support but also helps fund new exhibits; access to engaging educational outreach opportunities for local students, seniors and lifelong learners; public programming; and so much more,” said Sabine von Henning, senior director of development and special events, The Mob Museum. “Every plate purchased helps preserve this vital Las Vegas landmark and empowers the Museum to reach deeper into the community with resources that illuminate our past and build a more informed future by helping us continue our mission of advancing the public understanding of organized crime’s history and impact on American society.”

The specialty plate is available to all vehicles registered in Nevada—including cars, trucks, motorcycles and trailers.

  • Sequential plates: $66 initial fee ($61 plate + $5 sub plate), $30 annual renewal. Available only in person at the DMV.
  • Personalized plates (up to 5 characters, or 4 for motorcycles): $96 first year ($61 plate + $5 sub plate + $30 personalization), $50 annual renewal.

Of these fees, $25 from every new plate and $20 from each annual renewal goes directly to The Mob Museum to support its educational and public service initiatives.

All Nevada residents interested in purchasing a Museum charitable specialty license plate can make an appointment with their local DMV office by visiting dmvnv.com. For in-person, mail or fax personalized plate orders, use document SP66. Nevada motorists can also check plate availability or request personalized plates online via the DMV’s website at DMV Plate Availability Checker.
