ATOMIC MUSEUM ANNOUNCES NEW DATES FOR “IN FOCUS” ATOMIC PHOTO CONTEST FOR AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHERS, SEPT. 12, 14

LAS VEGAS (August 2024) – The Atomic Museum announces new dates for its first “In FOCUS” atomic photo contest happening this September. With the theme of technology, adult, teen and youth amateur photographers will receive exclusive access to photograph noteworthy museum artifacts. Top contestants will earn premier prizes and the opportunity to have their images displayed inside the museum following the contest.
The adult photo session for ages 18 and up will now take place on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. The youth photo session for ages 8 to 12 will now take place on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m., while the teen photo session for ages 13 to 17 will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 12 p.m. Participants will enjoy exclusive photography access under the supervision of the Atomic Museum team.
The top three contestants from each category will have their winning images temporarily displayed to the public inside the Atomic Museum’s main gallery. Contest winners will also have their works showcased locally following their time at the museum.

“Our inaugural photo contest will provide the public with the unique opportunity to experience the Atomic Museum like never before,” said Rob McCoy, chief executive officer, Atomic Museum. “With the chance to photograph historic artifacts from behind their display cases, we can’t wait to see the creative images produced in this competition.”
Registration for the photo contest will be open from Monday, Sept. 2 through Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 12 p.m. at atomicmuseum.vegas. Space will be limited to 50 photographers in each category and participants must be Nevada residents. Teen and youth participants must have one adult chaperone age 18 or older to accompany them. The entry fee will be $20 per adult or chaperone. While the teen and youth sessions are free, they require one adult chaperone in attendance per teen or youth.
Photo contest participants must submit one digital image of choice between Thursday, Sept. 12 and Friday, Sept. 20 at 12 p.m. on the Atomic Museum’s website. Only photographs taken at the Atomic Museum and of the museum’s exhibits and artifacts by registered participants will be considered for the contest. The top three finalists in each category will also be required to re-submit their winning images at a resolution that will enlarge to an 18-inch by 24-inch print.
By entering this contest, participants agree to grant the Atomic Museum rights to utilize their photos for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, website content, email newsletters and more. All participants will also be invited to show off their work on social media by tagging the museum at @atomicmuseum on the platform of their choice.
