Following a two-and-a-half-year closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club officially reopened to the public on Nov. 3, 2022. To garner substantial media coverage and reach the club’s target audiences, the team enlisted Jimmy Kimmel himself to receive a ceremonial key to the Las Vegas Strip from Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom in honor of the reopening. At the presentation inside the club on Nov. 11, 2022, media were provided with the opportunity to take photos/b-roll and conduct interviews with Kimmel. In addition to the presentation of the key to the Las Vegas Strip, a news release announcing star comedians performing at the club in November as well as the club’s partnership with Pompey Entertainment was proactively shared in October 2022 to garner additional media interest.
The Vox Agency wrote and distributed an array of press materials to local, regional and national media leading up to the club’s reopening and key presentation with Kimmel. Days before the key presentation, a camera call as well as targeted one-on-one pitches were also sent, inviting working media to capture photos and videos of the monumental occasion. Following the key presentation, a photo recap was also distributed, resulting in additional coverage from media unable to attend. Continuing to build momentum, The Vox Agency also distributed a detailed news release encompassing the November lineup of comedians at the club.
The effort secured media coverage leading up to, during and after the reopening. Stories ran in outlets such as Entertainment Tonight, Extra, Las Vegas Review-Journal, Las Vegas Sun, Las Vegas Weekly, Los Angeles Magazine and many others. These articles highlighted Jimmy Kimmel’s appearance at the club to celebrate the official reopening.
The club also surpassed its visitation goals by welcoming 54,826 guests in its first six months following the reopening.
