In the spring of 2022, “Particle Ink: Speed of Dark” set out to launch an original, mind-bending mixed-reality experience in Las Vegas. Sprung from the inventive minds of The LightPoets, “Speed of Dark” combined street art, live performances and never-before-seen technology to transport visitors into a living graphic novel. Transforming a once crumbling and abandoned warehouse in the Las Vegas 18b Arts District into a portal leading to the 2.5th dimension, the experience revealed a rupture in the Particle Ink Metaverse, where the virtual world blends into the physical world.
On crossing the threshold into this 2.5th dimension, where the veil between dimensions becomes thinnest, guests found themselves in a world created with ink and paper by a grieving Artist. Whimsical illustrations jumped from the walls to foretell events forever changing the lives of the Artist and his wife Lilith. A place of pure magick and captivating performance, “Speed of Dark” offered every visitor an opportunity for personal, intimate interactive exploration.
Originally designated as a 12-week, limited-run engagement, The Vox Agency distributed a news release one month prior to opening to local, regional and national media announcing the experience coming soon to the Arts District. Two days prior to its public opening, Vox also invited a curated list of media to attend an exclusive first look of the experience and capture b-roll and photos of a select performance. Media unable to attend the preview also received a plethora of high-resolution images and video in a photo recap ahead of opening. The effort secured media coverage in Forbes, Las Vegas Weekly, Las Vegas Review-Journal, Thrillist, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Magazine and more. These stories highlighted Particle Ink’s launch in Las Vegas as well as its ongoing programming. As a result of the more than 700 million earned media impressions, “Speed of Dark” was extended multiple times through December 2022.
